When we started discussing how we would tackle the backyard, we decided to do it in phases. Our main priority was getting a sprinkler system and grass in and then slowly add trees, concrete and a play area. Thanks to some unexpected money, we decided to go ahead and purchase a swing set and wood chips.
We found a play set at Walmart that wasn't too expensive, but required some labor. We thought that we could handle it - it took about 12 hours to assemble. Here's some pictures of the assembly... we'll post some of the finished product later.

Ryan & Addy! Congratulations on the backyard accomplishments! I can sort of relate to that kind of hardwork. Yesterday, on Mark's birthday, he happened to also have work off, and we weeded out a big section of our backyard that we've been neglecting and then we dug up the dirt, to pile fresh soil on top and came up with a design for the dirt. Then we set up some pretty bricks and planted an apple tree in the middle, and then two burning bushes to the left and right of the fruit tree and finally we laid some wood mulch to prevent further weeds. It was a lot of work - we worked from noon to 10pm and then finally celebrated his 27th bday. But, we are satisfied that now we have some trees/bushes along with our grass and a massive 70' tree that sits in the very back of our yard. We sure hope we don't get any tornadoes around here, like 6 hours south of here in Virginia where they got slammed earlier this year. If we did we'd have that massive tree to contend with! But, at any rate, congrads on the efforts of your hardwork and be sure to post pictures of your swingset once it's completed! That must be exciting!
