Searching for Cooler Temperatures

Earlier this week we got a call from our friends, Stephen and Heather Burke. They had a 'crazy' idea and wanted to drive to Payson for the day. There was a 40% chance of rain, but we went with a back-up plan.

Bee Hive - black mass in upper middle

Ryan and Addy have found lots of good places to camp, so they led the caravan of the Burke's in one car and the Heap's and our friend, Carol, in another car to a spot that they had camped in for a YSA activity. We pulled into a nice area and started unloading all the kids, food, and seating. Addy had the kids walk around and collect wood for a fire. With the recent rain fall, there was a little stream nearby. We started heading down to it and then heard a buzzing noise that was increasingly louder. As we looked up, there was a huge swarm of bees and a bee hive above us in the trees. We decided to load up and find another spot down the road. As we packed up, the bees went back inside and it was quiet again.

We found another area that worked out perfect. Ryan, expert camper, packed some balls, sand toys, and a giant frisbee for the kids to play with. They had fun running around, exploring, and chasing balls. The kids started to get hungry, so we got a fire started. As the fire got lit, it started to sprinkle... then pour. After a few minutes we decided that there was no way that we could make dinner for the kiddos at the camp site.

We loaded up wet kids and wet supplies and headed into town to enjoy dinner at Chili's. It was a quick, but fun trip and yes, we did find cooler temperatures - 77 degrees!
