Dash to Utah

Thursday we headed out early in the morning to Utah. We were lucky to have Grandma Louise come along for the ride. We made pretty good time with one fit in the McDonald's restroom and one long stop at another McDonald's in Cedar City. We were excited to get the the Isom's and even more excited for the weekend's activities.

Friday morning we were able to go to our nephew, Jace's, 6th Grade graduation. It was interesting to see the MST (Mormon Standard Time) effects more than just Church activities in Utah. It was cool to see how much the teachers loved their kiddos and Ethan really enjoyed their singing. Friday afternoon we went to Weber State for Alyssa's High School Graduation. Alyssa has worked really hard doing AP classes and got an awesome GPA... while dealing with medical issues. We are really proud of her and we're glad to see her graduate. Unfortunately, Addy spaced it and left the camera at home. That evening, Ally and Eric treated us to a scrumptious meal at Buca de Bepo and then Grandma Louise treated us to pies from Marie Calendars.

Saturday we were able to go up to Hill Air Force Base to see the air show. We went knowing that we would only stay a few hours. We didn't know about it before we got to Utah, so we were a little unprepared - no stroller, no walking shoes, and no sunscreen. The weather was gorgeous and the crowds weren't too bad. Ryan LOVES airplanes and was like a little kid looking at some yummy candy. It was fun to watch the planes do various stunts and to see them up close. Ethan especially enjoyed when some WWII planes came down near the crowd and let off bombs (staged explosions on the ground). We got a little more sun than we thought we would get, but it was a lot of fun. Later that evening, Ally grilled some yummy chicken and veggies and we enjoyed dinner with Addy's uncle, Kent, two of her aunts, Verdon and Mavanie, and some cousins.

We headed home Sunday morning and made awesome time! The only highlight of the ride - Ethan's nuclear melt down in Flagstaff. It lasted about 45 minutes in the car until he fell asleep and picked back up in Scottsdale. We'll be lucky if Grandma Louise ever travels with us again! It was bad, but what do you do?
