After an exhausting night of throw-up, we were set back a bit in our plans for Father's Day. Addy wanted to make it special for Ryan and Ryan wanted to make it special for his Dad. We organized a get together at our house with the Heap side of the family. Unfortunately, that meant a lot of prep work for two very tired people. We spent Saturday doing yard work, cleaning the house, and last minute grocery shopping. Luckily for Addy, Ryan is easy to please and wanted chocolate covered donuts for breakfast. We have 8:00am Church and invited Ryan's little sister Rachelle to spend the night so she wouldn't miss Church and would still be able to see the family. Poor Rachelle got to experience the morning sounds of Addy throwing up. Yes, more throw up... but this time it wasn't stomach flu; just a pregnant woman who pushed herself over the edge. Addy didn't have energy and was still feeling sick, so Ryan headed off to Church with Rachelle and Ethan. The start of a not-so-great Father's Day.
After Church, Addy picked up Rachelle and Ethan so Ryan could get his work done for his Church calling and then headed to pick up Ryan's brother, Josh. The Heap side of the family showed up around 12:30. We were still getting food ready for lunch - Ryan on the grill and Addy cutting up fruit. As Addy was cutting she started feeling a little sick again and tossed her cookies (or Gatorade) in front of the family... sorry. The smells, heat, and lack of sleep were the culprit. She headed upstairs to rest and the family was able to enjoy good food, company, and a friendly game of Boxers & Briefs. It was great to have the Heap side over at our home and best of all - Ryan and his Dad seemed to really enjoy their Father's Day.
Although there isn't a Father on Addy's side, there are a lot of great men to celebrate. After we took Josh home, we headed to Addy's brother's house. The kids played, the adults watched TV, and good food was enjoyed by most. Addy and Ethan weren't too up to eating, but enjoyed the company.
Overall, it was a good day. Addy felt guilty for not physically being able to make it happen and Ryan, being the good husband/dad, thought it was a great day anyway. Still... maybe some steaks will make up for it.
Sorry... there are no pictures... you can only guess why.
